After the briefing on Friday afternoon or Monday afternoon, you will leave our harbor at “De Nauwe Greuns” in Leeuwarden and first sail along the Van Harinxma canal, where you can get used to the rented boat on this wide canal.

The journey continues south along the “Standing Mast Route” towards Grou, around Wergea. At Grou you cross the Prinses Margriet Canal and continue south to Akkrum via the Pikmeer. After a total of +/- 2.5 hours' drive, you will reach this sociable place for your first overnight stay.

On the following day, a longer section lies ahead of the bow, via Heerenveen, the Threewayock, Ossenzijl sailing to Steenwijk in the province of Overijssel. Spend the night in the well-kept marina in the center.

From Steenwijk, the route first heads southwest and then north via the Wetering to the Weerribben nature reserve. Via Ossenzijl and the Threewaylock, you reach the next overnight port of Echtenerbrug, also known as the “Gateway to Friesland”. Enjoy the trip through the beautiful nature reserve De Weerribben.

It's not that far from Echtenerbrug to Balk, so we recommend to have a pit stop in Sloten (the smallest town in Friesland) and exploring the town, perhaps taking a lunch break ... To spend the night, we then head a short distance across the Sloter Meer to Balk, a small, cozy town.

The next stage destination is Bolsward, we cross open waters, the Heegermeer, pass Gaastmeer, leave Workum on the left, then head north on the Workumer Trekvaart via Parrega to spend the fifth night in Bolsward (in the middle of the town).

From Bolsward, the route takes us over smaller, winding waters through IJlst to Sneek. Spend the night between the three bridges that are passed here, right in the center of the city, stores, restaurants, everything in the immediate vicinity.

On the last day of the cruise we head north, across the Sneeker Meer, past Grou with a detour to Eernewoude in the nature reserve “De Alde Feanen” through Wartena back to our base, where you will spend the last night of your cruise.
